What's A-Parent

Couple Creates Musical Montage To Show All The Stages Of Parenting They're Going Through

"I said it's too late to apologize."

What's A-Parent is a series highlighting those who get real about the hardships that come with raising kids. These often untold stories help show parents they are not alone in their struggle, and are doing an amazing job.

Parenting can be hard to sum up in a few words. It's a complex thing with many emotions, subtleties, and ever-changing roles, and phases. However, one couple, Esther and Thad Anderson, attempted to illustrate the many layers of parenting in a unique way — by creating a musical montage.

The Story Of This Life vloggers recently uploaded a "Parenting Musical Montage" that uses popular songs to show what parenting is actually like at all the different stages.

The video begins with Thad suggesting they have a baby, and Esther being less than keen on the idea as she lip-syncs to Meghan Trainor's "No." The next scene shows Esther revealing a positive pregnancy test, mouthing along to Katy Perry's "Dark Horse."

The video skips forward in time to when Esther is rocking the newborn while lip syncing to Rachel Platten's "Fight Song." The new dad tries to apologize by singing along to Arizona's "I Was Wrong," but Esther uses One Republic's "Apologize" to make it clear she's not having any of it.

The funny video has more lines from "Heathens" by Twenty Øne Piløts, Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble," Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's "You're Welcome" from Moana and "Stay" by Zedd and Alessia Cara.

The twist comes when Esther lip-syncs Britney Spears' "Oops! I Did It Again" to reveal she is pregnant again.

At this point, the stressed dad sings, "So wake me up when it's all over, when I'm wiser and I'm older" from Aviccii's "Wake Me Up."

The montage uses more of our favorite songs to show the stress of parenting. It ends with the toddler finally asleep and Esther singing, "It's a better place since you can along" from Rachel Platten's "Better Place."
