Justin Timberlake may have ruled summer 2016 with his hit song "Can't Stop the Feeling," but it's actually been almost five years since his last album. That's about to change in February, when the singer plans to release his new LP Man of the Woods

Based on the album's rustic title, artwork, and preview video, some may have expected Timberlake to be adopting a new, perhaps even folksier sound. While that's still a possibility for upcoming tracks, the first release, "Filthy," sounds like the latest iteration of a familiar Timberlake style, and the accompanying music video is more Black Mirror than "Home on the Range."

The clip is set in 2028, with Timberlake playing a Steve Jobs type who shows off his robot creation at a conference in Malaysia. The singer controls the robot's movements from off stage, and it should come as no surprise that he makes it dance — an apt metaphor for what his music does to many of us when we hear it.

Although "Filthy" seems to have received mixed reviews from music fans on social media since its midnight release, those who love it are comparing the reaction to that of his past music and urging detractors to give it some time. For what it's worth, Timberlake declared on Twitter that the song "should be played very loud."

What can we expect from the album's future tracks? "This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I've ever written, where I'm from," Timberlake shared with fans in the preview. According to Rolling Stone, the singer plans to debut three more videos before the album's release on February 2.
