Grace VanderWaal Returned To The 'America's Got Talent' Stage And Earned A Standing Ovation

Watch her perform "Moonlight."

It's been almost a year since Grace VanderWaal won the last season of America's Got Talent. Wednesday night, she returned to the show for the first live results episode of the current season.

It's not the first time the 13-year-old has appeared on the America's Got Talent stage since her win — she performed "Frosty the Snowman" on the show's holiday special last December. This time, however, she was there to perform her new original song "Moonlight."

VanderWaal debuted the music video for the tune last month, explaining at the time that it was inspired by a friend's struggle with depression, encouraging fans to reach out for help if they're going through something similar.

The young singer performed the song in front of a huge crescent moon, strumming her signature ukulele and showing off the distinctive voice that earned her the top spot and the million-dollar prize last year.

According to USA Today, VanderWaal was nervous about returning to the stage where it all started. "You know when you smell that familiar smell? And it's that weird feeling in your stomach where you're trying to remember that smell?" she told the publication. "Then it's just a green air of anxiety just filling out my lungs. That's what it's like."

Her nerves didn't show, however, and she was able to deliver a strong performance. It was so strong, in fact, that all four judges gave her a standing ovation
