Cole Swindell Takes Us On A 'Roller Coaster' Ride With This Stunning Acoustic Performance

A song made famous by Luke Bryan.

Luke Bryan may have made "Roller Coaster" a hit song back in 2014 and one we still remember today, but now one of the tune's creators is showing us their take on it. Cole Swindell, a notable singer-songwriter in Nashville, covers the ballad — which he co-wrote with Michael Carter — on a Sia-like EP on which he collects songs he had a hand in making for other artists.

"'Roller Coaster' is probably one of my favorite songs that I've ever written," Swindell told A Plus while exclusively debuting a special acoustic performance of the jam. "Luke Bryan and I have such a history, he's a good friend that I've looked up to for a long time. Finding out that he was going to record that song was one of the best feelings in the world."

You can find this cover on Swindell's Down Home Sessions IV EP — the fourth to share that title but the first with this concept, with the others featuring original music — out next Friday, November 24. Other songs covered on the EP include "Get Me Some of That" (recorded by Thomas Rhett), "Outta My Head" (recorded by Craig Campbell), "This is How We Roll" (recorded by Florida Georgia Line and Bryan), as well as "Beer in the Headlights" (recorded by Bryan).

"I moved to town to be a songwriter and [Bryan] gave me my first job. I've loved so much of his music, so for him to believe in a song that I wrote with Michael Carter, who ended up being my producer, is a story that only happens in Nashville," the Georgia-born musician added, talking about how all the stars aligned. "Every song I get recorded is a blessing, but to have one of your best buddies record it and make it a No. 1 song for you is a memory I'll never forget. I love the song and I am glad I still get to play it. So, Luke, thank you for recording it."
