Ashley Tisdale And Lucas Grabeel Take Us Back By Recreating A Classic 'High School Musical' Duet

This is definitely what we've been looking for — pun intended.

With one YouTube video, Ashley Tisdale has taken us back to 2006 in a musical time machine. The 31-year-old reunited with High School Musical co-star Lucas Grabeel to perform one of their big duets from the Disney Channel Original Movie, "What I've Been Looking For."

This is just the latest performance Tisdale has treated us with lately on her channel as she recently joined another HSM co-star, Vanessa Hudgens, to sing their first duet together, as well as regularly wowing us alongside husband Chris French by covering The Chainsmokers, Paramore, Britney Spears, and Walk the Moon. How lucky are we, seriously?

For those of you who don't remember HSM, Tisdale and Grabeel played singing-and-dancing twins Sharpay and Ryan, two attention-loving kids who were super close. The siblings had two duets together — "What I've Been Looking For" and "Bop to the Top" — in which they didn't have to share the spotlight with anyone else.

It's hard to tell it watching Tisdale and Grabeel now, more than a decade after HSM came out, but they revealed that they weren't exactly best friends while filming. Tisdale said they "hated each other" and Grabeel confirmed that they "didn't get off on the best foot."

But, now that they're more mature, the two have clearly grown closer and don't miss a beat just kicking it together. "We just needed to live some life, go through some experiences together, and learn where both of us came from," Grabeel said. "And then it happened."

The two hugged it out before breaking into a piano ballad version of the memorable HSM tune, which saw them harmonizing and really stripping back the over-the-top audition number from the film. Tisdale, after the song ended, called it "vibey and cool" — and we have to agree.
