Alicia Keys' Latest Live Performance On 'The Voice' Sends A Timely Message

Her new song "Holy War" couldn't be more relevant.

During The Voice live results show on Tuesday night, coach Alicia Keys took the stage to perform music from her new album Here. The performance started with Keys and her backup singers delivering a beautiful acapella version of her song "Blended Family (What You Do For Love)," for which she recently released a heartwarming music video starring her own real family.

"That's my new song, 'Blended Family,' that I was supposed to sing tonight," she told the crowd. "But due to the current climate, there's only one song I can sing, and that's 'Holy War.' "

Keys took to the piano, with fellow coach Adam Levine accompanying her on the guitar. It quickly became clear just how relevant the new song choice was following last week's divisive election results. "Oh, maybe we should love somebody / Oh, maybe we could care a little more," Keys sings in the chorus. "So maybe we should love somebody / Instead of polishing the bombs of holy war."

The song ends on an optimistic note, with Keys singing, "What if love was holy and hate obscene / We should give life to this beautiful dream / 'Cause peace and love ain't so far / If we nurse our wounds before they scar."
