Meet The Woman Who's Breaking Another Barrier In Hollywood

There's a place for women behind the camera, too.

Cinematographer Nancy Schreiber is breaking a new barrier in Hollywood.

Later this month, she'll become the first female recipient of the American Society of Cinematographers' Presidents Award.

Schreiber, whose credits include The Nines, Born Killers, and Loverboy, has been involved in films for decades and won a number of other awards. But her recognition from ASC and this particular award are notable because the ASC has only once before handed out an award to a woman.

"If I had paid attention to [sexism] being an issue, I would not be where I am today," Schreiber told Variety. "You can't focus on obstacles. It would have been ludicrous to have those types of thoughts in my head — self-defeatist, really."
