This Amateur Photographer Brings Your Favorite Fictional Characters To Life In A Truly Creative Way

Scooby-Doo, is that you?

We love watching our favorite fictional characters on TV and at the movies, but what would it be like if they were to somehow break their way into the real world?

A Frenchman named François Dourlen uses nothing but his iPhone and the world around him to bring these characters from pop culture to life in unique and unusual ways. By pulling up a photo of the character on the device, Dourlen superimposes the image with something in reality to make it seem as if the two are connected.

The history teacher from Cherbourg recently told The Sun that this process started as a joke for his friends but, after they enjoyed them so much, he was encouraged to keep on going — and, so far, has for a few years now.

"I take pictures everywhere I go because I always have my phone and my camera with me," Dourlen told the publication. "I'm inspired by everything. It's like a game for me, it amuses me."

Let's check out just a few of this amateur photographer's best creations:

Goku from Dragon Ball Z

BB-8 from Star Wars

Lumiére from Beauty and the Beast

Simba, Pumbaa, and Timon from The Lion King

Peter Griffin from Family Guy

The Scooby Gang from Scooby-Doo

Donkey from Shrek

The best thing about these photos — besides the nostalgia and insane creativity taking place — is that these few come from the creations Dourlen has posted within just the past month.

That means there's plenty more to explore on his Facebook or Instagram pages.
