These Are The Top 10 Trending YouTube Videos Of 2017

2017 is coming to an end and with it comes a deep dive into analytics and many, many end-of-the-year lists. YouTube has released it's official #YouTubeRewind for 2017, a look back at the most impactful trends and talent of the year. 

This year, YouTubers were obsessed with slime (over 17 billion related views), fidget spinners (nearly 8 billion related views), "the floor is lava" challenge (nearly 1.4 billion views), the 1,000-degree knife that "cuts through almost everything" (more than 644 million related views), and "Face Full" videos (200 million related views), amongst other trends

People also tuned into YouTube to watch incredible moments such as the solar eclipse, April the Giraffe giving birth, and an Amtrak train colliding with snow in slow motion


YouTube created its own video to sum up some of the most viral moments, trends, and creators on the platform. The mashup titled "YouTube Rewind: The Shape of 2017" includes some of YouTube biggest stars such as Liza Koshy, Rhett and Link, Gigi Gorgeous, Rosanna Pansino, Safiya Nygaard, Lilly Singh, Joe Sugg, HurtBae, and more. Even Stephen Colbert made an appearance. 

The Year in Review video features songs such as "Humble" by Kendrick Lamar, "I'm The One" by DJ Khaled featuring Chance the Rapper, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, and Quavo, "Shape Of You" by Ed Sheeran, "Stay" by Zedd and Alessia Cara, and "DNA" by BTS.

Most importantly, it highlighted the importance of community and how people came together during difficult times in 2017.

YouTube also revealed 2017's top trending videos, according to time spent watching, sharing, commenting, liking, and more. (The list excludes music videos and advertisements as those were charted in a separate top 10 compilations.)

"This year's list of top trending videos represents the unbelievable diversity of creativity shared on YouTube every day and around the world," YouTube wrote in a press release. "Collectively, this year's top 10 trending videos have more than 630 million views and people spent more than a collective 40 million hours watching them. They span from much-loved YouTube creators and traditional media formats to new and innovative voices in art and entertainment."
