Woman Who Ordered Delivery Just So The Guy Could Remove A Spider Is All Of Us

You gotta do what you gotta do.

You may be familiar with that sinking feeling that comes when you spot a spider lurking in your home: who will be the one to trap it? How long will it take to muster up the necessary courage?

Recently one 22-year-old college student, Demi Sweeney, came across a spider in her home. Being too scared to remove the eight-legged critter herself, she did what any rational adult would do — she ordered delivery service, requesting to get a little extra help.

"My fear of spiders was taken to a whole new level today in which I ordered food in a hope that the delivery driver would remove the spider," Sweeney wrote on Twitter. Sweeney then attached a conversation between her and the delivery service, Deliveroo, that shows her explaining her situation.

"Sounds silly but this is a serious question," Sweeney messaged Deliveroo's support line, adding that she has a "huge phobia of spiders" and wanted to know if a Deliveroo "driver could get rid of it."

About ten minutes later, Deliveroo responded, saying that Sweeney could request it, but there was no guarantee that the driver wouldn't be afraid too.

Turns out, Sweeney's delivery man, a person named Joe, was willing to handle the situation.

"When I pointed at the top of the stairs handing him the tissue roll and getting him a chair to stand on, he then reached for the spider and accidentally dropped it on the floor where it began to run, which made me panic more," Sweeney tells BuzzFeed. "He said: 'Look away, don't look.'"

Sweeney tweeted a photo of Joe standing on a chair with his helmet on, approaching the spider.

"Joe ... you are an actual LIFESAVER," Sweeney writes.

Deliveroo — and others on Twitter — were impressed with Joe too. After all, most of us have had an experience of two of being too afraid to remove a spider on our own.

Our hats are off to Joe!
