Neuroscientists Say This Is The Most Relaxing Song Ever Created, And It Can Make You Feel Very, Very Drowsy

Don't listen while driving.

Music is a universal language that helps us celebrate victories, deal with breakups, exercise our minds and bodies, and of course, relax.

"Music therapy is considered to be natural therapy that is important in alleviating stress," Good Health reports. "Because stress is an important cause of other deadly illness, fighting it is key to maintaining good health."

And while everything from rock to classical genres may be your go-to stress-relieving style, neuroscientists in the United Kingdom have pointed to one particular song for ultimate relaxation.

Research conducted a few years ago by market research firm Mindlab International indicated that "Weightless" by Marconi Union, "resulted in a striking 65 percent reduction in participants' overall anxiety, and a 35 percent reduction in their usual physiological resting rates," according to Inc

The publication also reports that Marconi Union created the song alongside sound therapists to "help slow a listener's heart rate, reduce blood pressure, and lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol."

It's important to note, however, that men and women felt drowsy while listening to the track, so Dr. David Lewis-Hodgson at Mindlab International does not recommend listening and driving.

That said, next time you're feeling the weight of life's stressors, go ahead and give "Weightless" a listen. It's pretty powerful stuff.
