Boy Wakes Up Just As His Parents Prepare To Donate His Organs And Take Him Off Life Support

Now he's being called the "Miracle Boy."

It's not every day we get to hear miraculous stories such as Trenton McKinley's. The 13-year-old from Mobile, AL was rushed to a hospital in Birmingham to treat seven skull fractures after he suffered a horrific accident two months ago. According to Fox 10 News, McKinley was playing with friends in a small utility trailer pulled by a dune buggy for kids when they hit a curb and braked too suddenly. McKinley got caught in the trailer when it flipped.

In the video (below) a reporter notes doctors told the child's parents their son had "virtually no chance of surviving." but if he did, he'd never be the same.

"All I saw was a stretcher with his feet hanging out. He was dead a total of 15 minutes," his mother, Jennifer Reindl, told reporters. "When he came back, they said he would never be normal again. They told me the oxidation {oxygen deprivation} problems would be so bad to his brain, that he would be a vegetable if he even made it."

After his family signed papers to donate his organs, and moments before they were about to take him off life support,  McKinley showed signs of life.  McKinley opened his eyes, slightly moved his hands and feet, and eventually regained full consciousness.

Now, he's being called a "Miracle Boy."

Reindl said God saved her son's life. "God's got something big planned for that little man."

Evangelist Franklin Graham, and other Twitter users, say the story reaffirms their faith in miracles, and are using it as an example why it's important to have hope, even in seemingly dire situations.

McKinley is now recovering and is doing great.  "They told me I'd be a vegetable," he said in the video. "I don't really seem like a vegetable, do I?"

McKinley still has several medical procedures to undergo, so his mother started a fundraiser for him. They have already raised nearly $20,000.
