How A Text Sent To The Wrong Number Unexpectedly Changed A Family's Life

“It is so refreshing to be reminded that there are good people in the world who still care about others ... "

Sometimes texting the wrong number can be super awkward. But for one woman, a text to the wrong number turned into something pretty beautiful.

According to Bored Panda, a woman named Sydney Uselton sent a text asking someone for advice regarding a dress she was wearing. But when she sent the message to the wrong number, she got an unexpectedly sweet response.

"I believe this message was intended for someone else," a father named Tony Wood responded. "My wife isn't home, so I couldn't get her opinion, but the kids and I think you look stunning in your dress! You should definitely go with that one!"

Wood also attached a photo of five of his children all giving Uselton their thumbs up.

Wood and Uselton's text conversation subsequently went viral, and Wood revealed that Kaizler, his sixth child, was not pictured because he was getting chemotherapy for his battle with leukemia. He has a Facebook page called Prayers for Kaizler. People then started sharing the family's GoFundMe page to help raise money for Kaizler.

On March 9, Wood explained, "A couple people on this Twitter frenzy have shared our GoFundMe. Over $1,000 was donated today. We're speechless. [My wife] Rachel cried and I may or may not have choked up a little bit. God is good and knows our needs."

Since then, people have raised over 23 thousand dollars, with people from Ireland, USA, and beyond, lending their support.

On Sunday, Wood shared a message to their Facebook page.

"It's pretty cool to see everyone come together to support my son. To support my family. I've been pushing hard to do that myself but sometimes people need a leg up ... I just want to say thank you very much."

Wood also posted a follow-up to reiterate that his family is not thousands of dollars in debt because of medical bills, though they have experienced a "myriad of other expenses" because of this situation.

"Love you guys. We appreciate your support."

"It is so refreshing to be reminded that there are good people in the world who still care about others and are quick to be generous and kind to others," Wood's wife, Rachel, told Bored Panda. "I would also like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the kind words, all the prayers, all the donations, all the love and support. We honestly would never have been able to make it this far in our journey without every single one of you!"

It's great to see acts of kindness spark from the smallest flames, and we wish the Wood family all the best!
