This Is The Most Popular Wedding Song In Your State, According To Spotify

Did you play your state's most popular song at your wedding?

Considering a wedding is one the most expensive parties to throw, picking the right music for the occasion is no simple task. That's why it's no surprise people often spend lots of time meticulously crafting the perfect wedding playlist.

Streaming music service Spotify recently released information to Washington Post on the most popular songs brides and grooms are adding to their wedding day playlists. They reviewed wedding-specific playlists made by users since Spotify launched in 2008. With nine years of data, they determined both the most popular wedding songs in the country, as well as the most popular wedding songs in each state.

The top 10 most popular wedding songs in the U.S. according to Spotify are:

1. "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran
2. "Marry You" by Bruno Mars
3. "All of Me" by John Legend
4. "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson, featuring Bruno Mars
5. "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" by Whitney Houston
6. "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey
7. "Crazy in Love" by Beyoncé, featuring Jay-Z
8. "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri
9. "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz
10. "Hey Ya!" by OutKast

However, the Washington Post was also interested in discovering which wedding songs were uniquely popular in each state. "Here's how we get that bit of info," they wrote. "For every song in each state's top 500 wedding songs, we subtracted the song's rank in that state from the song's rank nationwide to find the song with the biggest gap between the two."

Interestingly, many couples were interested in playing songs that showed a connection to their state. For example, in California, many newlyweds chose to play "California Love" by 2Pac while in Texas, they bumped "She Likes Texas" by the Josh Abbott Band on the speakers. Meanwhile, couples in New Jersey like to listen to one of their own and played "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen who is famously from the Garden State.
