This Model Rocks A Unibrow, And Is Sparking An Important Conversation About Self-Love

"If I like this, just let me like this."

We're constantly being told what to do and how to look — from our hair to our clothes and even our eyebrows. But while it may be fun to keep up with "trends," it's important to remember that staying true to yourself is always best.

For model Sophia Hadjipanteli, this means loving her unibrow; it's something that makes her who she is. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Hadjipanteli says that her goal isn't to make people like it, but rather, to reiterate self-love.

"I am not really doing this to show people that they have to like [my unibrow], I am more so doing it to show people that they can get on with their lives by having a preference. I personally think my face looks better this way. Others disagree, and that's totally cool," she tells the publication. "I am not trying to get anyone on the unibrow bandwagon. If I like this, just let me like this."

Just a few days ago, the model posted a message to her own Instagram account with the hashtag #UnibrowMovement.

"#UnibrowMovement is about so much more than just my eyebrows — or even myself. It is about normalizing something that society pressures us to hide or fix. Whatever that ONE thing is that you love about yourself but maybe others don't — show them you're not going to change for them. For me, my movement is for my unibrow. I want my mission to be about change. Not physically, but socially. I want to grow up in a world that won't scare me back into my shell. I want to encourage tolerance of others, acceptance of differences, and most importantly- be proud of who you are. Keep shining because I'm counting on you guys."

"Loving you spearheading this movement. It's so annoying to be told over and over and over and over that I need to fit other people's tastes. I truly don't. Thanks for speaking out," one person writes in response to the post on Instagram.

"I think everyone is such a unique human being that deserves to be appreciated and loved. Thank you so much for making me feel proud to be [my] own '100 percent natural' self!!" another adds.
