This Photographer Caught The Ocean Doing Something Insane

Apparently 7-Eleven has a new Slurpee flavor: saltwater.

Jonathan Nimerfroh, a surfer and photographer based in Nantucket, took his camera to the beach last week. It was 19 degrees outside, but he figured it would be worth it if he could find out how the ocean behaves in the winter when it thinks nobody's watching.

He told The Huffington Post that he expected the waves to look like "a total washing machine."

What he found instead were, "glassy Slurpee barrels."

"Usually on a summer day you can hear the waves crashing," he told The New York Times. "But it was absolutely silent. It was like I had earplugs in my ears."

Here's the picture he added to his Instagram

And these are the other shots he captured:

...and this is just a beautiful montage
