Shannen Doherty Gave A Nickname To The Radiation Machine That's Helping Her Fight Cancer

"We have a love hate relationship."

Shannen Doherty continues to share her inspiring journey fighting breast cancer. "It's easier to live with having cancer if I know I'm helping at least one person," the actress told ET Online last year. We'd guess she's helping many, many more than that.

Doherty took to Instagram this week to share a tribute to the radiation machine that's helping her beat the disease. She showed off her sense of humor by posing with her lips puckered in a kiss and revealing that she has nicknamed the machine "Maggie."

"This is Maggie. I've seen Maggie five days a week for what seems like forever," Doherty wrote. "We have a love hate relationship. I love her because she's part of the life saving treatment I'm receiving."

"It's astounding how far we have come with technology," she continued. "One day, Maggie will be retired and the cure will be found. Things like immunotherapy are the future but for now... it's me and Maggie. I'm seeing her twice tomorrow so that I can wrap this phase up faster. Goodnight sweet Maggie. See ya tomorrow."

She added the hashtag #cancerslayer.

Doherty announced in October that she was finished with chemotherapy and moving on to radiation. Since revealing her diagnosis in 2015, the actress hasn't been afraid to share the most difficult moments of her experience, including shaving her head. Along the way, she has given thanks for her doctors and for the support of friends such as Sarah Michelle Gellar.

We admire Doherty for her courage and openness, and wish her all the best on the road ahead.
