These Kids With Cancer Can’t Attend Prom, So Selena Gomez And Others Brought Prom To Them

"This prom is going off!"

At the 17th annual Children's Hospital of Orange County Oncology Prom, teens received a special surprise from Jack BlackSelena Gomez, and cast members from Grey's Anatomy

Sarah Drew, James Pickens Jr., Caterina Scorsone, and Kevin McKidd — as well as Gomez and Black — headed to the hospital to surprise the teens, who have cancer, with a night they'll certainly not forget.

"Though attending a traditional prom is not always possible for teens battling long-time, life-threatening illnesses, CHOC ensures patients don't miss a chance to dance, celebrate their journeys, and feel beautiful," a hospital spokesperson said in a statement, according to Today.

In social media posts from the event, Gomez and the Grey's cast pose for pictures and photo booth shots with attendees, and Black even teaches them some of the latest dance moves.

"This prom is going off," Black can be heard saying over a microphone in an Instagram video from CHOC. "I just wanted to make sure you guys had the latest dance moves. I wanted to teach you a couple because that's the most important thing at prom." Black then shows off The Robot and belts out some lyrics from Jumanji: Welcome to the Junglea film he starred in last year. "Anyways, I'm going to be here dancing my butt off if anyone wants a high five or a selfie ... much love, see you on the dance floor."

We love that these celebrities took the time to attend such an important event, and it's evident in attendees' smiles that it was a success. Of course, this isn't the first time that we've seen Gomez — and other celebrities — making strides to help those dealing with difficult medical conditions. In 2017, for example, Gomez donated to the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine to start the Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research
