This Young 'Roseanne' Star Is Making Self-Care A Priority. Her TV Mom Is Full Of Praise.

"I commend you, I love you, and I know you will come out the other side."

Earlier this week, Roseanne star Emma Kenney revealed that she was "going to be seeking treatment" for some unspecified "battles" in order to "get help and make better choices." Now, her TV mom — Sara Gilbert — is offering nothing but love, support, and admiration.

"I first want to say, Emma, I'm so proud of you. I know that the whole cast and crew are so proud of you," Gilbert, 43, said on The Talk. "And it takes a lot of courage to — we have a lot of demons, it takes a lot of courage to face them, particularly at 18. I envy you."

In an interview with In Touch, 18-year-old Kenney — who has been acting since the age of 10 and has starred on Shameless since 2011 — said she was "running with a really fast crowd" and "doing things I should not be doing" due to her young age. This led to Kenney feeling "even worse — anxious and depressed," and her admitting it was a "slippery slope" she didn't want to go down.

"If I could go back to being 18 and start doing things to better myself at the pace you're doing, I would be a better person today," Gilbert added, urging others to reach out to someone if they are in need of help, whatever it may be. "I commend you, I love you, and I know you will come out the other side. Thank you for speaking up and being an example for other people."

The good news, besides the fact that she is taking the steps necessary to make self-care a priority, is that Kenney has a solid support system of parents, friends, and co-stars. Kenney said her hope is to find "other ways to cope with boredom, find hobbies, and better learn how to deal with stress," and take a break from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood.
