Father Takes Powerful Selfie With His Son To Show Him He's Never Alone

"But as long as I'm breathing, I'll always support my son..."

While a selfie can be a fun way to make memories, they often don't have much significance attached. But this is not the case for one father and son's photo, which is going viral for reasons other than being adorable.

In the selfie uploaded to Instagram, Robert Selby poses alongside his son Chace Elijah, 3, who has a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Robert explains that Chace is underweight and uses a feeding tube, which is proudly on display in the photo. In this particular shot, Robert glued one of Chace's old tubes to his stomach to support, and raise awareness, for his son and his condition.

"My Mr. #stealyourheart #teamchace is sucking in his stomach, trying to show off his abs like his daddy, but all you see are his little ribs," Robert captions the photo. "But as long as I'm breathing, I'll always support my son and he'll never be in a fight alone."

"My message is to let my son give people hope in knowing that he has been through a lot at such a young age and look at how far he has come." Robert tells HuffPost.

"I support him by not letting him limit himself to anything in life," Robert adds. "He can do anything a normal kid can do, so I don't let him allow self-doubt in his mind."

ABC News points out that Chace's condition is the same one Jimmy Kimmel's son was diagnosed with, which the talk show host spoke about on an episode in his show.

"So I'm just trying to be a light to somebody that's going through the same situation, to let them know everything will be alright," Robert tells ABC.

Robert's post has been met with tons of positive messages, with one Instagram user reaching out to let the Selbys know that their own son has TOF, is 28 years old, and that they would be happy to offer their support.

"I don't know anything about you or your Little King, but just viewing your page makes me want to love my son harder every second I'm in his presence!" another Instagram user comments.

The picture, and its message, showcases strength and love, and we wish the Selby family all the best!
