Parent Receives A Hilarious PTA Letter That Cuts Straight To The Chase

"I really wouldn't have helped anyway, so here is $100 to forget my name."

They say honesty is the best policy, and one Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is taking that idea to heart as evidenced by a letter they apparently sent to parents asking for donations.

The letter, posted to Reddit by user Charlie_Olliver, explained to parents of the elementary school kids that the fundraiser was "in lieu of sending students home with the task of selling door-to-door, collecting money and delivering goods." On the letter, it says, "Please help us avoid that by supporting our PTA with your donation, and helping achieve our goals to support our students and faculty."

Parents were given five options for donations, including a $10 option for parents who agree with this statement: "I do not want to bake, so here is the money I would have spent on cupcakes;" a $25 option for parents who identify with this: "I do not want to hit up friends, family, and co-workers, so here is the money I would have spent on wrapping paper;" and a $100 option for parents who  say they "really wouldn't have helped anyway, so here is $100 to forget my name."

"Shoutout to the PTA at my kids' elementary school for the most hilariously honest fundraiser I've ever seen," the Redditor captioned their post.

Since sharing, the post has received a number of comments from those who can relate:

"It's such a good sales pitch for me that I almost want to support this random school that I have no idea where it's located," one person commented.

Back in 2015, mom-of-three Dee Weisz Heinz received a letter with some of the same language from her school's PTA. Heinz's letter had an additional $75 option. "[It] was obviously written from the perspective of a fellow parent who understands how overwhelming these undertakings can often be," Heinz told HuffPost of the letter.

Both Reddit user Charlie_Olliver and Heinz showcase that the honest and humorous approach to these letters will always be effective. And, hopefully, they've made you laugh today too.
