Marietta Police Department Facebook Post Shows That Even Cops Have A Sense Of Humor

Nice to see them having some fun while they bust crooks.

If you're going to rob someone, the best way to ensure you get caught is handing them all your personal information before you leave.

That's exactly what one man in Marietta, Georgia did, according to the local police department. Before shoplifting from a pawn shop, Marietta officers wrote in a Facebook post, the man handed over a driver's license and a fingerprint as part of a transaction on the way out the door.

Oh, and the whole thing was recorded on camera. Needless to say, the Marietta Police Department had some fun with him on Facebook.

"When you make it this easy, it takes all the fun out of chasing bad guys!" they wrote in their post.

Not long afterwards, they got a local judge to sign a search warrant. Apparently, the department had no trouble apprehending the man.

"Fortunately, he turned out to be just as bad at hide & seek as he is at stealing," they wrote in a follow-up post.

One Twitter user said her son, a former Marietta police officer, used to come home with similar stories.

It's tough not to appreciate a police department reminding everyone they've got a sense of humor.
