There's a lot of great things you get to do once you become a part of the parenthood club — and one of those magical things is having the privilege to say the things your parents said to you growing up.
As you teach your kids to become people of the world, you teach them to behave, ask them to do things, and remind them over and over and over that they shouldn't play with their food, no means no, and if they keep making that face, it'll freeze that way. There's also the classic "one day you'll thank me" and "you'll understand once you have your own kids" that you finally get to throw around.
Twitter user @_JuGatti recently asked followers, "What's a phrase you can't wait to use on your kids?" Considering how relatable the topic is, it's no surprise people were more than happy to offer up some of the lines they're going to love finally being the ones to say.
In just one week, the tweet has received more than 1,130 retweets and over nearly 3,400 likes. We have a feeling many of them have heard their chosen phrases a few too many times themselves growing up.
Aside from being hilarious, many of these tweets made us realize we're not the only ones with parents who said these things. Who knew other people's moms and dads told them that turning on the light in the car is illegal? Where do they get this stuff?
Below are some the hilarious responses people had.
