Teachers have so many different pupils year after year, but students only have a limited number of teachers. Still, those educators have the power to say or do something that changes one of their student's lives for the better forever. Sometimes, it's encouraging a student through positive feedback; other times, it's calling out their bad behavior and reminding them that they can and should do better.

Matt Moore, an NBA writer for sports media site The Action Network, recently took to Twitter to find out about the lasting impact teachers have had on his followers. "What teacher made the biggest impact on you and what did they tell you that stuck with you?" he tweeted on Tuesday

Moore shared that he'd been fortunate enough to have several teachers who changed his outlook. He had a journalism professor who encouraged him to pursue his talents as a writer, an AP history teacher who told him to talk less and listen more, and Mrs. Bird who made him think differently about trying so hard to avoid challenges. All are valuable pieces of advice.

Many people responded to Moore's tweet to share their own experiences with teachers who positively impacted them. From helping them to stop bad habits, to encouraging them to pursue their passions, these teachers helped to encourage their students not to hold themselves back in life. There are some things that a textbook just can't get across in quite the same way.
