Her Son With Special Needs Wished For A Birthday Parade. Hundreds Made It Happen.

"It was such an amazing display of kindness and love."

Kim Davis-Robinette had one special request of others for her son Matthew's 21st birthday celebration.

"One of Matthew's favorite things to do is to watch parades," she wrote on Facebook about her son. "So, I want to give him a birthday parade."

Matthew was born with chromosome deficiency "which caused significant brain malfunction, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism," Robinette recently told Scary Mommy. Due to his special needs, Matthew tends to be quite loud, making it difficult for him to be in public places without getting awkward stares from strangers.

But a parade is the perfect setting for him since he can yell and shout in celebration with everyone else. So, his mother wanted to create a parade especially for him.

"I am requesting as many friends as possible to drive by my house and honk your horn to wish Matthew a Happy 21st Birthday," she wrote. "He loves (all) kinds of vehicles – trucks, motorcycles, cars, firetrucks, police cars – he loves it all."

Her post was quickly shared 1,500 times with the news of Matthew's birthday wish spreading like wild fire.

On his special day both the birthday boy and his hopeful, loving mother were completely surprised to see hundreds of people pass by their home for a 90-minute parade, which included marching bands, dancers, fire fighters, entertainers, and friends and loved one holding "Happy Birthday" signs.

"Everyone was smiling and hugging each other," Robinette said. "It was such an amazing display of kindness and love. It was incredible!"
