The Original Gerber Baby, 91, Poses With The Current Gerber Baby In Sweet Photo

There's a 90-year age gap.

Ann Turner Cook became the very first Gerber baby back in 1928 after artist Dorothy Hope Smith submitted a charcoal sketch of the then-4-month-old to the newly launched company's advertising campaign. Lucas Warren became the current Gerber baby after beating out more than 140,000 entries.

Both hold special places in history as Cook is the original Gerber baby, and Lucas is the first baby with Down syndrome to have the role.

Recently, they were able to meet.

Chris Collin, the grandson of the original Gerber baby shared a photo on Twitter of his grandmother posing with the 2018 Gerber baby on her lap.

Warren's family was vacationing in Florida when they took the opportunity to meet with Cook. USA Today reports that Warren's parents, Cortney and Jason, noticed their baby "immediately bonded" with Cook, saying "Lucas walked right up to her, flashing his signature smile and waving, and we could tell he loved her right away. He even grabbed two cookies and offered her one, which she accepted!"

There is a 90-year age difference between the pair, but the sweet photo shows they both have the sweet smiles and bright eyes that have become associated with the Gerber baby campaign.

The photo of the two Gerber babies together quickly went viral with people loving the sweet moment. Gerber also shared the sweet photo on Instagram with the hashtags "#HistoryMade" and "#AnythingForBaby"

The photo celebrates decades of history, plus, it's giving people the chance to share their connections to Gerber and the Gerber babies. Commenters on Twitter talked about how they worked alongside Cook. One Twitter user even explained he had a summer job at the Gerber plant while another one revealed that her late grandfather, George Jerabek, did the lithography on the Gerber baby.

On choosing Warren to represent the brand, Bill Partyka, president and CEO of Gerber, said, "Every year, we choose the baby who best exemplifies Gerber's longstanding heritage of recognizing that every baby is a Gerber baby, and this year, Lucas is the perfect fit."
