Adorable 6-Year-Old Spends Allowance Money Taking Mom On Dates

"By doing this I am teaching him how to treat a lady ..."

A former MTV reality star is attracting viral attention with a Facebook post showing her 6-year-old son taking her on a date.

Nikkole Paulun, who was featured on season 2 of MTV's 16 and Pregnant, posted the photograph on New Year's Day.

"Once a month," the 22-year-old Paulun writes, "my 6 year old son takes me out on a dinner date. He opens doors for me, pulls out my chair, talks about his day & asks me how mine was, pays the bill with money he earned by doing chores, and even tips the waiter/waitress."

Her reasoning is that she wants to teach her son "how to treat a lady & how to take her on a proper date. How to show that he respects the woman he loves (right now that would be mommy)."

Despite her good intentions, the mother of two is enduring criticism online for the post.

One commenter, Chloe Henry, remarked:

"While this is a lovely idea, I don't like the idea that you make your son spend money he earns by doing chores on taking you for dinner. I get the idea behind it, but it's a little unfair to suggest that unless you make him do that then he'll turn out to be a bad guy when it comes to women. He may grow to resent the fact that you expect him to take you to dinner with the money he earns, which is an actual problem in relationships now."

The comment has received more than 75,000 likes.

To her credit, Paulun responded graciously:

"He enjoys doing it. It makes him happy. I would never force him to do something he didn't want to. He prefers to spend his money doing something special with me than to spend money on toys. He already has his game station, toys, and things he wants. He's very thrifty with his money and refuses to spend on things he thinks he won't really use. I give him extra money to be able to do this lol having a special day for just us two is something he truly cherishes and looks forward to, as well as using his money to pay the bill."

In any case, she seems unfazed by the drama.

What do you think?
