Mr. Feeny Is Back, And He Has An Important Message About Appreciating Your Teachers

"I'm talking to you, Mr. Matthews."

Tuesday was Teacher Appreciation Day, and if there's one fictional teacher that plenty of '90s kids would like to thank in addition to their real ones, it's Mr. Feeny from Boy Meets World. So it was fitting that William Daniels, the actor who brought Mr. Feeny to life on the ABC series, shared a video message for E! News.

"As a well-respected former educator at John Adams High, I'm here to encourage you to show some appreciation for the unsung heroes that help shape the future generations," Daniels says in the video. "Our teachers provide us with so much. They're there for you in your formative years, supply the knowledge you need to take on the world, and even give you unsolicited advice from behind the fence in their backyard."

That last bit is obviously a reference to the fact that Mr. Feeny, the tough but beloved teacher with plenty of wisdom to share, was also main character Cory Matthews' next-door neighbor. "I'm talking to you, Mr. Matthews," he adds to really drive it home.

"So thank your teachers today and every day. And remember — as much as you learn from them, they learn from you," Daniels reminds viewers, before quoting Mr. Feeny himself: "As my final piece of teacherly advice: Believe in yourselves; dream; try; do good. I love you all. Class dismissed."

Last year, Daniels shared that delivering this speech on set brought him "close to tears."

We love that Daniels, who is currently 91 years old, still embraces his role as one of our favorite TV teachers. The actor even reprised the iconic character for the Disney Channel reboot series Girl Meets World, which followed Cory and Topanga's young daughter, played by Rowan Blanchard.

If you didn't get a chance to thank your favorite teachers yesterday, there's still time. Not only is it still Teacher Appreciation Week, but there's never a bad day to tell a teacher how much they mean to you.
