The Force Is With These Volunteers Collecting Supplies For Mexico Earthquake Victims

These ARE the supplies you're looking for.

As Mexico begins to recover from the magnitude 7.1 earthquake that struck approximately 75 miles southeast of Mexico City on September 19 and devastated a good portion of the country, volunteers from across the globe continue to pour in and lend a helping hand.

One particularly creative group of volunteers have opted to dress up as Star Wars characters as they collect much-needed supplies for the thousands of people displaced by the natural disaster. According to Latino culture site Remezcla, the intergalactic crew has been gathering canned goods, diapers, toys, water, and other necessities to deliver to Morelos — an area impacted by the quake that's had difficulty getting as many resources as nearby Mexico City.

Per a tweet from a local radio station, which you can see below, the group consisted of several Stormtroopers, Rey, and a handful of other characters.

As HelloGiggles points out, the signs held by these heroes from another galaxy also reflected their Star Wars roots. One sign says "Centro de acopio de otra galaxia," which translates to "Collection center from another galaxy," and another reads "#LaFuerzaEstáConMéxico," which means "The force is with Mexico."

Not only are these volunteers delivering necessary supplies to affected areas, but they're also brightening people's days as they do it. While it might not seem like much, dressing up can add some much-needed levity to an otherwise stressful and somber situation. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, for example, a man dressed up as Spider-man to bring joy to kids residing in a temporary Houston shelter.

A local blogger reports the Star Wars faction will be on hand once again on September 30, collecting more goods in Mexico City on Popocatépetl 474.
