Wondering When To Take Down Your Christmas Tree? Mariah Carey Has The Answer.

"The Queen of Christmas has spoken."

Now that Christmas Day is over for this year, and if you celebrated the holiday, you may be wondering when you should pack up your decorations. Mariah Carey has an answer for you, and you might want to listen, considering she definitely knows a thing or two about Christmas.

It all started when television host Ryan Seacrest posed the age-old question to Twitter on Wednesday. "When is it appropriate to take down your Christmas tree and decorations?" he tweeted to his followers. "Asking for a friend."

Seacrest received several classic responses, with some saying the decorations should come down on December 26, while others suggested waiting until after New Year's, even until "Little Christmas," which is January 6. It's clear that everyone has their own traditions, but pop star Mariah Carey is in a class of her own.

"Dahhling! Not till July 4th!" the singer replied to Seacrest's inquiry, adding a winky face emoji. It may seem excessive, but she should know. After all, her 1994 hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You" just entered the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart — and there's a good chance it's been in your head all December.

Many fans seemed to agree that Carey's word on the matter is gospel. "The Queen of Christmas has spoken," one user wrote. "You shall not take down your Christmas decorations till July 4th."

Others pointed out that Carey also happens to have a song called "Fourth of July," off her 1997 album Butterfly. Coincidence? We think not.

Seacrest has yet to respond to Carey's suggestion, or reveal whether he's taken down his decorations yet. However, the two will have a chance to discuss the matter this weekend, when Carey will perform on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest on ABC.

Until then, we'll keep the tree watered.
