He Came To The United States Without A Dime And Created An Empire

Lowell Hawthorne was full of ambition.

Immigrants are twice as likely to start a business than native-born Americans, but even among the high-achieving group, Lowell Hawthorne stands out.

As part of a new A Plus initiative, The New Americans, we are highlighting the priceless contribution immigrants have made to our country.

Hawthorne created Golden Krust Bakery, a Caribbean food empire located throughout New York, after immigrating to the United States in 1981. He passed away in 2017.

To honor his legacy, A Plus is shining a light on his achievements and the impact he had on his local community.
