How LeBron James Thanked A Young Fan Who Told Him He's 'More Than An Athlete'

While some may take issue with NBA star LeBron James and other athletes commenting on politics, one young fan wants him to keep talking. A kid sitting courtside at a recent game against the Phoenix Suns held a sign with a supportive message for the Cleveland Cavaliers player, leading James to give him a special thank-you gift.

The boy's sign, calling the player "King James," read, "You Are More Than An Athlete," with the hashtag #NeverShutUp. It's a reference to comments made by Fox News host Laura Ingraham last month after James criticized President Trump. Ingraham told James to "shut up and dribble."

In response, James posted the phrase "I am more than an athlete" on social media. The message apparently also appears at the office of UNINTERRUPTED, James' multimedia platform where he made the initial comments.

The sign didn't go unnoticed by James. According to Sports Illustrated, in the final minutes of the game, LeBron gifted his arm sleeve to the young fan. It was a heartwarming gesture that had social media praising the star — and the kid for speaking his mind.

As James told reporters in response to Ingraham's comments, "I will not just shut up and dribble because I mean too much to my two boys here, their best friend right here, my daughter that's at home, and my wife and my family. And all these other kids who look up to me for inspiration and try to find a way out."
