John Mayer Urges Fans To Support Justin Bieber After He Cancels The Rest Of His Tour

"We've lost so many great artists lately."

On Monday, many Justin Bieber fans were disappointed to learn that the pop star had chosen to cancel the rest of his Purpose World Tour, which, according to E! News, still had 14 remaining dates, including stadium shows in Los Angeles and Texas, as well as other states.

A rep for Bieber said in a statement that the decision was due to "unforeseen circumstances," adding, "Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them ... Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase."

Bieber spoke to TMZ on Monday after the announcement. "I've been on tour for two years," he explained, and apologized to fans if they felt "disappointed or betrayed," adding that he was looking forward to "resting" and "relaxation."

One person who definitely supports Bieber's decision to take a break is fellow artist John Mayer, who took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to defend the 23-year-old. As Us Weekly points out, Mayer himself took a break from touring in 2012 when he was dealing with a throat condition.

"When someone pulls remaining dates of a tour, it means they would have done real damage to themselves if they kept going," Mayer wrote on Twitter.

"We've lost so many great artists lately," Mayer continued. "I give Justin [two thumbs up] for realizing it was time to call it. You should too."

It's nice to see artists supporting each other, especially considering Mayer himself has dealt with a similar situation in the past. He didn't have to comment on Bieber's news, but we're glad he chose to give fans some perspective.

Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun, meanwhile, took to Instagram overnight to apologize to fans who won't be able to see the star in concert, explaining that "a man's soul and well being I truly care about came first," and asking everyone to "respect and honor that."

"Justin will be back and I know he looks forward to performing for you and with you all again," Braun concluded his post.
