Jimmy Fallon Tries 'Homemade' Version Of 'The Tonight Show,' Complete With A Cardboard Set

“Stranger Things” star Caleb McLaughlin joins the fun.

With the Winter Olympics airing on NBC this week, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon has had to get creative. He's been hosting a special five-minute version of the show, which he kicked off on Monday by conducting a lightning-fast interview with Paul Rudd

On Thursday night, things got even more inventive, as Fallon hosted a "homemade" version of the show, complete with a cardboard set. Instead of cutting to computer graphics for the jokes in his monologue, blown-up images were placed in front of the host while he delivered the one-liners.

Things got really fun when Fallon "sat down" for his interview with Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin. The actor, who plays Lucas on the Netflix series, showed up with his head through a painted board that made it look like he was sitting in the guest's chair. Fallon, meanwhile, had to have his cardboard desk raised to be at the correct height.

But perhaps the coolest part of the episode came when Fallon showed a "clip" from the second season of Stranger Things. They couldn't cut to an actual video, so the host turned the pages on a flip book. It's totally making us want to start our own low-tech talk show.
