Your Favorite Holiday Songs Get A Modern Makeover With Jimmy Fallon's #NewXmasCarols

"I know when that hotline bling / Glory to the newborn king."

So far this holiday season, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon has asked his Twitter followers to share stories about their most lovably weird relatives and reminisce about their most imperfect holiday memories. This week he called on them to get creative by updating a classic Christmas song for the modern day using the hashtag #NewXmasCarols.

As much as we love traditional holiday songs (and their many, many covers), sometimes they can seem a little dated, so we loved seeing what viewers came up with.

Jimmy started things off with this 21st century take on "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" that's sure to keep everyone who hears it on the nice list this year.

His followers came up with some clever new lyrics of their own about everything from flight delays to visiting mothers-in-law, set to the tune of songs like "Jingle Bells" and "Do You Hear What I Hear?" One particularly funny suggestion could even be sung to the tune of either "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" or "Hotline Bling," depending on your mood. (Jimmy goes the Drake route.) And it's not just Christmas songs — there's also a new version of "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel" that's all about Twitter.
