Jimmy Fallon Challenges Dale Earnhardt Jr. To A Summer-Themed 'Cooler Scooter' Race

Can Fallon beat the NASCAR star?

Would it really be summer if Jimmy Fallon didn't challenge former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. to a "cooler scooter" race? Before Wednesday night's Tonight Show, we wouldn't have been so sure, but now that we've seen it, we're thinking it should be a tradition.

Fallon pulled the idea out of his "Audience Suggestion Box." In case you're wondering, a "cooler scooter" is a cooler that has been turned into a go-kart. Fallon has previously challenged Liam Hemsworth and Hugh Jackman to the quirky race, but Earnhardt has to be his toughest opponent yet.

Each of them donned a beer hat with a straw to complete the summer look, and Fallon announced a few seasonal obstacles on their course through the studio. That included a shirtless uncle barbecuing, a floor full of beach balls, a group of kids with water guns, a lifeguard, and a dancing shark. And of course, no summer vignette would be complete without a couple of neighbors arguing over their lawn.

"Dale, are you ready for this?" Fallon asked Earnhardt.

"Oh man, I've never been more ready in my life," he replied before announcer Steve Higgins counted them down.
