Jennifer Garner's Father's Day Message To Ben Affleck Shows How Beautiful Co-Parenting Can Be

"Our kids are lucky to have a dad who looks at them the way you look at them."

While it's important to show our appreciation for the good father figures in our lives year round, Father's Day usually brings out our best shows of love. This year, we celebrated all different kinds of dads, from single dads, to those who have lost children, to fathers in co-parenting arrangements, and more.

Jennifer Garner received praise for sharing a Father's Day message for her ex, Ben Affleck, about their three children, 12-year-old Violet, 9-year-old Seraphina, and 6-year-old Samuel.

"Our kids are lucky to have a dad who looks at them the way you look at them and loves them the way you love them, @benaffleck. #happyfathersday#threeluckykids #haveagreatday"

Affleck shared his own message on the day, giving a shoutout to the women in fathers' lives.

"I can think of three incredible reasons why today is so special. Happy Father's Day to all the dads and father figures out there, and to the women that empower them to be the best they can be. We are all so fortunate beyond measure."

Garner and Affleck announced their split in June 2015 and filed for divorce in April 2017. During that time, they have remained close to co-parent their kids. Other co-parents chimed in on Garner's Instagram post to voice their appreciation for being a positive example of what co-parenting can look like. One person, for example, commented, "Now that's the way to co-parent respectfully and honoring your children."

"So evident that Jen Garner is not only a beautiful person, but a very caring mom, who puts her children first, before everything. Many blessings to this lovely family," said another.

One user acknowledged the difficulty of overcoming separation. "It's difficult to maintain a civil relationship with an ex-partner," she said. "As a grandparent, I have seen my children hurt and my grandchildren's spirit crushed by bickering and jealousy. You have the heart and determination to make sure your children are not affected by the decisions of the parents regarding separation/divorce."

"What a world it would be if everyone could treat each other with this kind of respect!" said another person.

We couldn't agree more.
