Sure, James Corden Brought 'Catwoman' Jokes — But Halle Berry Came To Slay This Rap Battle

"Drop the Mic" is our new favorite show.

James Corden versus Halle Berry in a rap battle — what a time to be alive! The first episode of the Late Late Show host's new spin-off show, titled Drop the Mic, premiered last night and gave us some hard-hitting and well-meaning fun. What we — and Corden it seems — were not ready for, though, was just how prepared Berry was for the showdown.

The Carpool Karaoke master tried going for Berry's movie flops such as 2004's Catwoman — an easy one considering it's so unpopular — as well as her three divorces, rapping: "You've done so many X-Men movies, maybe a dozen. I heard X-Men and I thought it was about your husbands."

He also joked about her 2008 Sexisest Woman Alive title as well as her Oscar win for 2001's Monster's Ball. "Halle is a classic / This whole thing's tragic / You're just Viola Davis but not as charismatic," he rapped. "2008 you were Sexiest Woman Alive / Was that a moment when Beyoncé briefly died?"

We don't want to give everything away, but we will say that Berry won. Here's just a taste of the acting legend's digs: "Fat jokes are too easy, I try to be nicer / But who held your pizza when you kissed Sean Spicer?" and "You produce this show / Isn't that fun? / Jimmy Kimmel saved Obamacare / what the fuck have you done, son?" If those aren't mic drop moments, we don't know what are.

Method Man — who hosts this TBS show, an adaptation of a popular Late Late Show segment, alongside Hailey Baldwin — named the winner after the audience responded louder to Berry over Corden. Also in last night's premiere episode was Black-ish star Anthony Anderson against R&B singer Usher, and next week it'll be Dawson Creek's James Van Der Beek versus Fresh Off the Boat's Randall Park, and Jane the Virgin's Gina Rodriguez versus NFL star Rob "Gronk" Gronkowski.
