Artist Reimagines The Disney Princesses As Hipsters In Badass Photo Series

A tattoo artist payed a visit to the kingdoms.

In a land far, far away, the Disney Princesses do not twirl in dresses, wear huge ball gowns or brush their hair with thingamabobs. In this land, or one artist's imagination, Cinderella, Ariel and even Princess Leia sport tattoos, piercings and cool styles like the badasses they really are.

Emmanuel Viola, a professional illustrator, designed the below portraits of the princesses because he was over their squeaky clean persona. He told A+ in an email that he wanted to debunk the myth that they're always "good girls," so naturally, he turned them into hipsters.

Not that tats make women "bad," but her recreations certainly make the franchises' royalty look much more edgy. "There's always a dark side in all of us," Viola said.

Even if you're a princess.
