64 Years Ago These Two Went To Prom. Now, The High School Sweethearts Are Getting Married.

"Not many people marry their prom date … but tomorrow my grandma gets to marry hers, even if it is 64 years after prom!"

Sixty-four years after their prom date, two high school sweethearts reunited. A few months later, they decided to tie the knot.

Joyce Kevorkian and Jim Bowman dated in high school in the early 1950s, The Huffington Post reports. After graduation, they split — heading to college and eventually marrying other people. They both had "long, happy marriages before they were widowed."

But when Bowman decided to contact Kevorkian to plan a high school reunion, the two began talking again.

"My grandma had been very sad since my grandpa passed away five years ago, but when she started talking to Jim, she turned back into her old self," Kevorkian's granddaughter, Anna Harris tells the publication. "When I'd call her up, she had a lot of things she wanted to tell me about her life ― she had things to look forward to again."

Then, Kevorkian proposed, and the two married in April.

"Not many people marry their prom date … but tomorrow my grandma gets to marry hers, even if it is 64 years after prom!" Harris writes in a post for the Love What Matters Facebook page

Attached to the post are photos of Bowman and Kevorkian, then and now.

"It's almost like she is 17 again. When Jim proposed, she didn't hesitate one bit and she has been so, so happy ever since," Harris says. "To me, Jim isn't really replacing my grandpa, he's giving me my grandma back."

It's beautiful to see these two making new memories together, and we wish them the best!
