Using A Simple T-Shirt, Gap Makes An Important Point About Togetherness In Its Latest Ad


Gap's ad campaigns have a history of celebrating diversity, but their latest #BridgingTheGap campaign does this simply by utilizing a white T-shirt.

The video ad was directed by Edward Enninful, the newly appointed editor-in-chief of British Vogue, and it champions messages of togetherness, diversity, and optimism. 


Gap explained on its Instagram the meaning behind its latest inclusive campaign.

"Since 1969, we've been about transcending differences — it's in our jeans. We're proud to partner with @edward_enninful, appointed @britishvogue editor-in-chief to create this video. It celebrates optimistic American style, the diversity that makes each of us unique, and how Gap white tees (plus one beautiful song) can bring us all together. That's #BridgingTheGap."

The ad includes people of all different ages, races, and occupations. Furthermore, it features people who were born in America alongside those who born in other places, but now call America home.

Models in the ad include actress Priyanka Chopra, model Christie Brinkley, rapper Wiz Khalifa, model Adwoa Aboah, fencer Miles Chamley-Watson and model-designer Alek Wek.

"Appointed @britishvogue editor-in-chief @edward_enninful's view: "The world has changed a lot, so I wanted to do something that celebrates togetherness … celebrating each other and coming together to change the world through positivity." That's #BridgingTheGap."

In an interview, Enninful talked about casting his friends in the campaign and showcasing the beautiful things about them.  "The brilliant thing about the cast that we have is that half of them, like me, are not from America, but most of them live here and have that same optimistic attitude that I had growing up," he said.
