When A Wounded Veteran Went To A Florida Georgia Line Concert, He Got More Than A Great Show

Shane Savage was in for quite the surprise.

Florida Georgia Line, consisting of singers Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, are putting their fame to good use and giving back to the community — specifically veterans.

The country duo is currently on tour and is making headlines for teaming up with The Independence Fund, a national nonprofit assisting our nation's wounded veterans and their caregivers. Per a press release, more than 1,600 all-terrain devices have been given out since the organization's inception of its mobility program in 2007.

Retired Army Staff Sergeant Shane Savage was the latest veteran on the receiving end of Florida Georgia Line and The Independence Fund's generosity, being invited to a concert with his family where he was given an all-terrain track chair.

"It has given me the opportunity to enjoy things outdoors that I haven't been able to enjoy since my initial injury back in September 2010," Savage told Fox News, revealing that he lost his leg when his truck ran over an IUD during a mission in Afghanistan, one of his five combat tours.

Savage said this all-terrain track chair — which can retail up to $20,000 — will make an impact on his life, and calls this act of kindness an "emotional experience" because he knew he was representing fellow amputees and veterans.

In the same press release, Kelley noted that the cause "really resonates" with the group because they both have people close to them who served, while Hubbard praised The Independence Fund for helping veterans "be mobile and have the ability to see the world."

For Savage, this all-terrain track chair will allow for more freedom to get around his own property. Since he lives out in the country — without sidewalks and blacktop, he points out — this device will help him get off the front porch to spend more time with his horses and family.
