18-Year-Old's Family Recreates Her Mom's Graduation Photo During Her Last Day As A High Schooler

"My parents have always been my motivation to be successful in high school and now strive to do well in college."

When 18-year-old Madeleine Tarin accepted her college admission offer, she knew she wanted to do something special to honor her parents, Jacqueline and Dario Tarin, and all the sacrifices they've made for her. So, Madeleine decided she'd ask them to help recreate her mom's high school graduation photo from 2000 at her own graduation.

Madeleine remembers seeing the photo around her home since she was little. In it, she sits on her father's shoulders close to her mother who's wearing a graduation robe and a big smile. In the recreation 17 years later, she was the one wearing the robe and smile, but she was still sitting on top of her dad's shoulders.

"We made it TOGETHER," she wrote in a post on the Love What Matters Facebook page. "My mom was 15 while pregnant with me, she had me at 16. My dad was 17. The original picture is from June, 2000. My parents were judged a lot during this time, but stayed strong together. They both lived with their parents but were raising me together. They were determined to make it and provide me with a future."

"Today, they have a strong, loving marriage," she continued. "They purchased a beautiful home. My mom is a stay at home mom and my dad has a great career as a longshoreman. I have two little sisters that are following in my footsteps."

Madeleine went on to explain that her mom's high school graduation photo had inspiring for her growing up, which is why she wanted to recreate it.

"I also wanted it to be a reflection to show them how far we've come together as a family," she wrote. "My parents have always been my motivation to be successful in high school and now strive to do well in college. I couldn't ask for a more loving, supportive family than the one God gave me. Yeah that's right, we made it TOGETHER."

Tarin shared the images on Twitter, where they have been retweeted more than 75,000 times and liked more than 325,000 times. Many people responded to say how happy the photos made them. Several also commented on how young her parents still look over a decade later.

We're glad recreating her mom's graduation photo gave Madeleine the opportunity to tell her parents how much she appreciates all that they've done for her. Hopefully, it inspires others to do the same.
