This Swimming Pool Actually Makes Breathing Underwater Possible

Human-amphibians? Not quite.

Scared of water or just not in the mood for a swim? You will still love this installation by Argentinian artist Leandro Erlich.

Erlich has constructed a full-size swimming pool — but it"s actually fake. There is no water in it.

Looking from the deck, the pool appears to be full of light-blue shimmering water inviting you to take a dip. Reality is, the layer of water is only around 10 centimeters deep.

The rest is just an empty space separated from the water with a piece of transparent glass. Visitors can take a walk or do an improvised swim in the underground section of the swimming pool.

The Swimming Pool by Leandro Erlich was assembled in 1999 finding its permanent home in Kanazawa, Japan at the 21st Century museum of Art.
