Couple Skips Traditional First Wedding Dance, Performs 'Dirty Dancing' Number Instead

Nobody puts this bride in the corner.

For most newlyweds, the first dance is incredibly memorable. But the first dance Lindsay Pergola and Richie Guarini performed at their wedding was iconic, and one their guests — and people of the internet — won't soon forget.

Instead of going the traditional route, Pergola and Guarini decided to learn one of the most famous routines in dance movie history: the final number in Dirty Dancing where Baby (Jennifer Grey) and Johnny (Patrick Swayze) step, twirl, and kick on stage to the song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."

Oh, and who could forget that lift?

One of the couple's wedding guests took a video on her phone of the performance and uploaded it to Facebook. The video has since been viewed over 14 million times and has been shared over 155,000. There are 30,000 comments filled with people commending the couple for their efforts as well as tagging their friends to show them the newlyweds's moves.

"It was my favorite movie growing up and I always had the idea in the back of my head ever since I could remember," the bride told The Huffington Post. "Then when we got engaged, I asked Richie if he would do it with me and he agreed!"

The bride has been dancing for as long as she can remember and teaches classes at a local dance studio in New Jersey, but her now husband had no dance experience before they started practicing.

Well if the cheers of their guests — or the dance's Facebook views — are any indication, their practicing certainly paid off.
