A Smart Home Helps A Widower With Dementia Remain Independent

A Google Home is helping is helping David Stace, a dementia patient and widower, retain his independence.

The elderly widow spoke to The Argus about how the device has helped him adapt to a new life without his wife. It reminds him to take his medication, attend doctor's appointments and helps him turn the lights on an off in the house. Some of the typical smart home features of the device have helped him maintain his independence, and also helped him feel less lonely along the way.   

"A lot of people like myself and other people in the same situation should really be able to accept and enjoy it," Stace said.
