This Young 'America's Got Talent' Ventriloquist Made Simon Cowell Smile With An Aretha Franklin Classic

We're still totally obsessed with 12-year-old singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer on America's Got Talent. This week, Darci performed in the show's semifinals, and she introduced an entirely new puppet to charm the audience — especially judge Simon Cowell.

Edna Doorknocker, Darci's latest friend, has a bit of crush on Cowell, much like the mouse Oscar was smitten with Mel B. "He's a hit with the ladies in their 80s back at the home, you know," Edna informed Darci.

The young talent was quick to point out their age difference. "You're so old, he could give you a heart attack."

"Oh, don't worry, Darci. Simon knows mouth-to-mouth," the old puppet replied, and Cowell couldn't help but laugh.

As always, Darci's knack for providing her characters' speaking voices without moving her mouth was impressive, but her ability to sing for them brought down the house. Edna chose to perform the Aretha Franklin classic "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" for the object of her affection, and Darci even brought her down off the stage to serenade Cowell up close.

After the performance, the judge admitted he had "a bit of a crush" of his own on the puppet, and called Darci's performance "brilliant."

"You're funny and you've got a wicked sense of humor," he said, according to Entertainment Tonight. "I'm imagining in my head now a kind of Sesame Street-type of show for you."

We'd definitely watch that, but for now, we'll settle on a few more live performances.
