This Brand Is Encouraging People To Treat Their Body The Way They'd Treat A Best Friend

Would you call your best friend ugly? Probably not.

If you've ever looked in a mirror and thought you were too fat, too skinny, too dark, too pale ... too anything, or just straight up ugly or gross, you're not alone. Our society inundates us with messages and images of unobtainable standards of beauty ever day, and it's enough to make most anyone unhappy with their own body. But, we all need to take a step back to realize everyone is different, and what matters most is how we feel about ourselves.

As a way to check our inner negative-speak, one lingerie brand called Curvy Kate โ€” which specializes in bras and swimsuits for D to K cups โ€” is telling people to talk about their bodies the way they'd talk about their best friend. Because most of us would never dream of calling our best friend ugly. Our own bodies deserve the same respect.

The brand's campaign is appropriately called #MyBodyMyBFF, and is encouraging people to take a pledge to treat their bodies like their BFFs for a month, from June 15 to July 15.

"Why are we so hard on ourselves when our bodies and minds are so amazing? Well we think it's time it stopped!  #MyBodyMyBFF is a pledge to treat your body as if it were your best pal in the world ๐ŸŒŽ We want you to promise to be kind at every turn and live like the queen you are ๐Ÿ‘‘ Share your #MyBodyMyBFF story and you could be in with a chance of winning prizes (including these amazing @self.love.brings.beauty T-shirts) everyday for the next month ๐Ÿ’• So what are you waiting for? Share that love! #bodypositive#happiness #selflove #selfbelief #bekind"

Hopefully, once people start, they will want to continue spreading self-love.

The body positive mantra from the campaign is meant to change everyone's thoughts for the better. "Think something negative? Squash it and turn it into something positive, " It says on Curvy Kate's website. "Don't dare wear that crop top? Put it on and say you look fabulous. Someone gives you a compliment? Take it, thank them and believe them because they said it for a reason. You'll be surprise how quickly you respond to the nice things you say to yourself and allow yourself to believe."

Since the #MyBodyMyBFF campaign launched, many people are taking to social media to share their own "BoPo" photos and self-love statements.

"#MyBodyMyBFF - @curvykate's awesome new campaign! #mybodyisabikinibody  Because you are a person, and you deserve to be spoken to in a loving way.  Because when you treat yourself unkindly, nothing good comes from it.  Because you only get one body. Because you are so much more than how you look."

"Love @curvykate new body positive campaign #MyBodyMyBFF We, as women, spend way too much time being negative about our bodies. It's time to pledge to promise to treat your body with the kindness and love you would your best friend. Who's with me?! ๐Ÿ’œ  #bodypositive #selflove #loveyourselffirst"

"Your body has been with you since you were born. Your body has carried you through every single bad moment in your life. Your body takes care of you even when you don't take care of yourself. Think of any requirement you would have for a best friend: Be there for you in the bad times - Be happy for you in the good times - Doesn't abandon you when you make bad decisions - Sticks by your side no matter what - Protects you and defends you even when you can't protect and defend yourself Think about it! Your body does all those things. Your body has earned your respect, your love, your kindness and your friendship by simply keeping you breathing and doing boring things that you wouldn't want to do yourself like maintaining your body temperature and healing bruises and scars. Can you imagine how much brain power that would take? And your body does it all for you without expecting even a thanks in return! I love this photo - not because of what I look like but because my best friend took it. I hadn't seen her in 10 days and her absence made our house feel less of a home. That's what a best friend does. A best friend doesn't care what you are wearing whether it's this stunning bikini by @curvykate or the hour after when I was walking around the house naked. A best friend doesn't care what your face looks like, whether you are bare faced and sweaty straight out of the gym like I was in this photo or all dolled up - a best friend only cares that she gets to see that face as often as possible. A best friend is who you need to be for yourself.  It's why I want you to commit to making your body your BFF. It takes a commitment. A decision that you will be there for each other thick and thin. Commit to yourself today. You deserve it. Share your posts with #MyBodyMyBFF and pledge today that you are going to love yourself like a best friend would โค๐Ÿ’œ PS Finally got a new bikini and I'm obsessed - thanks @curvykate"
"Rocking my @curvykate lingerie even with a belly! I'm not ashamed of my shape. I'm built like me and I don't want to change it.
