Couple Has A Walmart Wedding After Meeting In The Store Three Years Earlier

“We met in Walmart, we fell in love at Walmart. We could’ve gotten married any other place, but we chose to get married at Walmart.”

Two lovebirds exchanged their vows in front of family and friends … and shoppers, when they got married in the garden section at Walmart during open store hours.

On March 17, Leida Torres and Chrissy Slonaker Torres put their love on display in the store where they first met three years earlier while working at the West Manchester Township, Pa. location. The beauty of their in-store nuptials was that several co-workers, who the women consider family, were able to attend the ceremony without having to change their work schedule.

"We both have a lot of really close friends that we call family in our Walmart store," Chrissy told USA Today. "We discussed it with the store manager and the home office so that everybody in our store – everybody that we share our lives with – can be a part of the wedding."

That included customers, many of whom stopped by to watch and take pics and video. There was approximately 100 guests, including family, friends, and Walmart shoppers.

"Everyone was so thrilled," Chrissy said. "They supported us 100 percent on it. They felt blessed that we chose to do it at the store just to have our special day with them."

According to USA Today, the wedding décor, which their co-workers handled, included an outdoor tent in the middle of the garden section, a diamond rug, and red and white flowers.

After the wedding photos went viral on social media some people had negative comments, like calling the couple "rednecks" or speculating that their decision to wed in a Walmart meant they "can't afford a wedding," but the experience overall was a positive one.

"Don't judge a book by its cover," Leida said. "Our family is happy. That's all that matters to us."

"You shouldn't just [judge] something by the way it looks because there could be a beautiful story behind it," Chrissy added. "We met in Walmart, we fell in love at Walmart. We could've gotten married any other place, but we chose to get married at Walmart."
