This Country Cover Of Hailee Steinfeld’s ‘Starving’ Is Sure To Satisfy Your Appetite

Clayton Anderson puts his own spin on the pop track.

We didn't know how much we wanted a country cover of actress-singer Hailee Steinfeld's song "Starving" until we heard Clayton Anderson work his acoustic magic on it this month.

Anderson, who released his latest EP Only to Borrow last fall and has opened for some of the biggest names in country music — including Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, and Darius Rucker — added an irresistible twang to Steinfeld's pop hit with Grey and Zedd, which reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in December.

The cover is also a mash-up of sorts, as Clayton included verses from fellow country talent Lee Brice's song "Hard to Love." The two tracks blend together seamlessly. Whereas Steinfeld's original might have made you dance, this version is sure to make you sway.

"Thank you, Hailee Steinfeld," Clayton wrote on his Facebook page, where the video of his performance has received 13,000 views. "Seriously love this song so much. Couldn't resist mashing my boy Lee Brice in there, though."

Steinfeld herself is no stranger to acoustic covers. She blew us away last year with her understated rendition of Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself."
